Default Fastest Ford Mustang from the factory ever?

I know there are lots of companies out there that tune and then sell new 600+ horsepower Mustangs but which one is the fastest to have ever come out of the ford factory in the history of the musclecar and how much did it cost?

Ford even said themselves that the new GT500 is the most powerful mustang they have ever built from the factory. Which probably means it would be the fastest too.

Shelby would be aftermarket because its not coming from the ford factory that way im assuming? I was looking it up and there is a company out there making a 2010 900hp mustang and selling it to the customers brand new sans warranty.

Shelby is considered factory and they also give it a full factory warranty. Now as for the fastest Mustang from ford would be the Shelby gt500KR with the Snake package that makes 725hp and is another 33 grand over the base gt500 sticker price. I know this because for the past month I have been looking into some new cars and the GT500 was one of my choices. Just not that much of an Domestic car fan =/

Okay hypothetically speaking if you were to buy a REGULAR mustang GT and make it 500 hp how much would it cost you vs one that came from the factory that way?

Possibly as much as the gt500. Could be less expensive if you buy the parts used. But then again you lose your warranty with that. The GT500 isn't bad for the price.

you cant really ask that question and get the same price. theres so many different variables that could go into building one that a price number on parts and labor varies like crazy.

your kidding me right? i could get a stock gt 00-03 for $5k or less and put anywhere from $1-4k into it and have a street driven 500whp daily for less than $10k.

Nope not kidding. Were speaking from a "NEW" point of view. I'm well aware that you can pick up a GT of that year for that much but we are speaking of a brand new vehicle straight from the factory with Warranty. Which in that case I was right because new stang GT's run right arong 30k to start and can go up with options and whatnot. Then you got your turbo or SC kit you would have to buy with supporting mods. Then you have to tune it. So I'de say close to the price, maybe a little less. But at the same time you also lose your warranty.

so if the new shelby gt500's msrp around $42k then i am still right. seeming as if you get a new 2009-10 gt for $30k and dump anywhere from $5-10k into it its still cheaper than the new shelbys. and lighter at that. so im still right in the end. and a piece together turbo kit on a stock bottom end brand new mustang can easily take that 320whp stang to 500whp on low boost for $5k or less.

Ok so figure you spend the 30k + the 5k Turbo Kit + the 1k exhaust + the 500 for the dyno time it will take to tune it comes out to a little over 36k.

Now that's without any additional options, other supporting mods such as pistons, heads, valves, suspension and the list goes on. So that's around 10k's right there which if you were to do to a GT would bump the price up to around 46k's Thus making it more the the GT500. Let's not forget to throw that warranty out the window .

So once again you get what you pay for in a GT500 and more then you would if you were to do it yourself on a GT. Now if you wanted to be unique then I would say that's a different story. But in this case were comparing vehicles that are coming straight out of the Ford factory. I would have to agree that a custom turboed Mustang GT would be faster then GT500 but then again you won't have the same features or other parts that of the GT500. Not to mention if something happens to it then you're coming out of pocket for repairs when you were trying to beat the GT500 at the drag strip last night.

Mustang GT:

Car: Base Starting @ 30k
Turbo Kit: 5k
Exhaust: 750-1k (for a good one)
Tuning: 500
Supporting mods (engine and suspension): 10k

Grand Total: 46.5k with no warranty

Mustang Shelby GT500:

Car: Base Starting @ 46k (which includes all the features you would've upgraded on the GT already)

Grand Total: 46k with warranty

You are missing the point...it is a NEW car that was assembled AND TESTED by the factory and comes with A WARRANTY!!!!!

I have been into racing cars for 20 years and KNOW it is a very expensive hobby...shit is ALWAYS breaking...

i want to know where your pulling these numbers out of??

for a newbie to cars maybe he would pay that much for a turbo kit. but if you know what your doing then it can be peiced together for $1-2k. And if your running a turbo usually you just run either and open downpipe or some cheap small baffled exhaust. Definetly not going to run you over $300. Tuning depends on who and where and if they know what the hell they are doing. And just to make 500whp on a stock mustang you really dont need to even touch the internals or drivetrain.

ask me how i know all this. we can do this all day.
