Default Mod Plans

been saving the past couple months for a few upgrades on the 750. finally ordered all the stuff today:
06-07 GSXR 600/750 Akrapovic Shorty Slip-On
BMC Suzuki Air Filter
Dynojet PC3 USB
Suzuki Pazzo Racing Levers & new grips

the 2008+ gsxrs have a welded cat, so newer slipons dont include a midpipe. i plan on sawing off my cat and fitting the 06 exhaust to my headers since the midpipe is included. i also want to remove my SET valve. this involves pulling wires and shit i've never done.

so, here's my question. having no mechanical knowledge besides changing oil and bolting on a slipon, is it a good idea to do all this myself? personally, i want to learn how to work on my own bike, but at the same time i dont want to do something improperly and get myself killed. I plan on going to AMR or CRT for a custom dyno tune once i am done with installation. would i be better off having AMR take care of the installation?

The sawing part may pose an issue if you don't know how to do it. I don't know the set up of the exhaust but they should all be fairly simple mods....

Exhaust, without the sawing is a matter of pulling off and slipping on with a new gasket.

Air filter may be a PITA since it is likely under the tank...

PC III should be plug n play with some downloadable maps...

Levers....easy stuff. Grips I have never changed on a sportbike since you need glue...I don't wanna change something that I could put too much or too little glue on. On the H-D they are bound to the bars by the switch housings so I dunno about the grips.

Good luck and post pictures when you're done!

Your dyno time is going to be expensive. Save you money and do the stuff yourself. The PC3 should have a map installed that will get you there. And they may have preset downloadable maps that are specifically for your set up. If they do, I wouldn't even dyno it with an air filter and a slip on.

Not knocking AMR but you become more intimate with your bike with these simple mods and you would dish out labor fees for it maybe around $150-$200 when you can save that for the dyno.

why a PC3 and not a PC5??? and the air filter is in this order, seat bolts, tank bolts, screws on filter box, done.
ive never used glue on my grips. never had a problem with them coming off or rotating either.

no reason really. i think the baz is more technical than pc3 from what i've read. it might be a while before/if i do track days, so i am not too concerned with that stuff. i just want to be able to hang with the 1ks on our rides.

anyways, i've decided to install all of it myself. just a bunch of bolt on applications, so i shouldnt have any trouble. i'm not looking forward to hacking off the cat tho. i'm reading that it takes 5+ hours to grind down the weld

Is the autotune included in the bazzaz unit?!?!?! IF so, hell, I might get that. I know the dynojet has a seperate module that does auto tuning but if the single bazzaz unit does it...I may be sold!

same as the PC5 i beleive. dont quote me cause ive been wrong before. its an add on to the module. but IMO it saves you lots of money down the road with dyno pulls/tunes and what not. IMO everyone says you wont know your proper air/fuel and what not. thats why people like my buddy up north uses the auto tune then every now and again goes to a dyno and gets a few a/f and hp pulls to make sure its still where it should be. i think its a little pricey though.
