Default Ping those that don't wear jackets/gloves

Yeah yeah, I know another story of road rash...but if it makes one person wear a jacket all the time, it's worth it

the lessons from my mistake (somewhat graphic, be careful)

All I can say is WOW! First, the guy was very forthcoming in admitting fault even though in his condition, I wouldn't be able to carry on a coherent conversation period! Second, that makes the reality of gear come into play. Sure, I do the same thing on the ZX if I am riding to CVS or to McD's or something short. I'm even worse on the H-D with a shitty non-DOT half lid and no jacket (leather is damned hot!). My day will come and I am sure, but I accept that. However, that scares the piss out of me about a passenger. Probably a good reason I never ride with one.

I have taken Sofia (my middle daughter) on a few rides to cheerleading practice yet she looks like a Power Ranger when I suit her up to go on. Plus it is on the H-D so I'm not going more than 35.

I guess the old addage there are two types of riders: Ones who have been down and ones who are going to go down. I hope that is his right of passage. I can only pray that dropping a bike was mine.

wow man. i wear my jacket, gloves, boots, jeans and helmet every time i ride, no matter how close (few exceptions in the past, but not anymore). went down twice on my 1st bike wearing just a helmet. road rash is not fun and i still have bone chips floating around on top of my kneecap to remind me. i was lucky, but i did have to learn the hard way.

i forwarded this to my wife because she always bitches about wearing her jacket on short rides. i couldnt imagine living with the guilt of injuring/killing a passenger on my bike.

i'd rather sweat my ass off in my jacket, then lose my skin.

loss of water, easy fix = rehydrate
loss if skin = pain and scars for life

I'm always in full gear, no matter how hot it is, i prefer that more then being skinned.
