Neon reflective vest....Proactive riding gear or dorky?
So since I've started back working at the base here in Miami -- Not Homestead AFB, the OTHER ONE...I got reamed for riding my H-D WITHOUT a super NEON REFLECTIVE VEST!!! I had the rest of my gear on but no neon vest on for "safety" while on base.
Apparently since my last time here, a directive went into effect that even civilians have to conform to mil regs and wear something reflective like that. So I searched and searched just for the little belt/strap thing to wear across my jacket so I wouldn't look dorky from the house to work but no luck. I ended up finding a "decent" looking throw over vest from Sports Authority that is like neon yellow but it is a PITA to get off the bike right before I get to work, toss the vest on, and then pull in the gate. So i've since just left it on from the house to work.
So...Basically...Is the neon vest just an extra layer of safety for riding or is it a dork element?
