Default Is it bad luck to wear a helmet you went down on?

So I went down in January and getting there with the bike and I want to know is it bad luck to wear a helmet you went down on. The bike went down and Im going to ride it again after a new wire harness and subframe.

Its only going to cost me 150 for the shield 100 and 25 or so for the side bracket

Or I should just have it painted
Heres a pic.

luck has nothing to do with it, the helmet should not be worn because the inner shell is most definately cracked and will not help you properly if you go down again.

glad you said it because I was going to.

I'd be a little less concerned with luck and more concerned with safety.

i wouldn't chance it...no cracks, but it may not "hold up" like new next time you go down.

try contacting suomy and cry to them for a new one. tell them how much you loved it and value them...you never know

If it's been xrayed and no cracks then it's a judgement call. In all sanctioned racing, any helmet that has been down is not allowed to be used again and it can't be any older then 2 years IIRC

Yes, you should not be wearing ANY helmet that has had any kind of impact. If you happen to wear it and go down again, it might not protect you as it SHOULD. So be careful. Its not worth risking it. Buy yourself a new helmet, you'll be satisfied in the long run.

You also don't have to spend $600 for a replacement. Scorpion helmets are great helmets and they aren't as pricey.

Good luck and be safe.

what this man said. your brain and life is worth every penny you dump into a helmet, as you can tell from that one

Use the helmet to put flowers in it.
Even if you let the helmet fall, it's only good to look at from then on.
You can x-ray it all you want, the x-rays won't show the strength.

I really like my Shoei but it's going to be replaced soon even though it has no scratches and seems fine.
The lovely ladies at Shoei did check it though when they replaced some parts (which weren't even broken, lol).
It's a service Shoei offers.
Btw, does Shoei offer the same service in the states?
Here in holland, it's free and if you happen to loose parts or need to readjust the visor, it won't cost you anything.

Helmets are like Condoms and syringes. You use them only ONCE. It has done its job and needs to be thrown away at that point.
