Trailer:
getting some tie down points welded on my trailer this week.. got a new tire and greased the bearings.. ( still need a spare)

My truck:
was just serviced.. new tires, new waterpump, new front and rear brakes, Mobil1 oil change, new fuel filter, airfilter, fuid top off... New gauge cluster( recall on the old one.. I now only have 85 miles on my truck )

the tow vehicle is ready!!!

Bike:
new front tire, got some recall work done on it.. gonna flush the brakes, cooling system.. got a -1 front sprocket.. but I think I will change it when I return from the trip.. dont think I want to have a different shift point to think about with very little time left to get used to it before the trip.. (let me hear some opinions on this)

you won't be used to the curves anyways because of all the flatroad riding here, you should know your shiftpoint just by the sound of the engine. Try it and see, you can always change back while up there, should take but 30 minutes tops

so plan it out for next year.. same time.. this is what I did as soon as I got back from my trip last year..

9 DAYS till I hit the road...

so it turns out that due to the size of the VTX1800, my other buddy with a HD will ride " real rider" all the way up to Helen Ga and meet us up there.. and probably Alan and his brother-in-law ( VTX guy) will ride back down to Florida at the end of the trip "real riders" .. and the HD guy will trailer it back down with me..

we will have two groups of two riding at different paces, with meet points to be determined at the begining of each ride to try to keep us together...

Day 4 of riding should take us to the Blue Ridge Parkway (a 469 mile road) It is showing road closures at MM405 on the NC side so we will ride it up and back from the closed section which will be around 130 miles.. our base camp in NC will be the Microtell Inn, just like last year.. round trip that day will be around 300-400 miles( or about as much as ChirMia rides in one year)

so..... today one of the "real riders" backed out.. he was going to ride up and have me trailer him back.. then he said it was too far to ride.. we already had booked the two roms and all.. so we had to cancel.. and book the rooms elswhere.. gonna be staying at the same places as last year.. nothing special, but it was good enough..
