did anything physically happened to the computer? check the cables, make sure the ethernet cable is plugged in firmly.
you can actually unplug it and plug it back in.... if that doesnt work, try the following. 1-shut all computers down 2-power down router and disconnect the 2 computer ethernet cables leave it alone for 15seconds 3-plug the router, let it get a steady green light 4-connect the ethernet wires back to it 5-turn on both PCs 6-check if it works. let me know if this worked. |

I would guess it's the motherboard. PCI controller would be on the mobo and the multimedia and the enet controllers are probably pci depending on the age of the computer. If all are caput...I would guess something happened with the motherboard. That's my first thought. Wish I had a better idea that wasn't as drastic.

Right click on the items in yellow and go to properties and you should see a tab for "drivers"...This would tell you whether or not the drivers are good to go. KRis |

^right, and if its not, they should give you the option to automatically update them.... the only problem is, since your ethernet card is out, you have no internet connection....
Kris, thats why I asked him if there was something physically done to the PC.... maybe they had the case opened and touched something, or dropped it..... Phantom, if its your kid's computer, ask him to tell you the truth, what exactly happened before everything went to hell.... more details please so we can give you better help. heres another solution: since one of your PCs does have internet, use that one to get the driver from the support site of the other PC, download them onto a flash drive and then transfer them to the faulty system and then update it. for example: if your PC is a Dell Dimension 2400..... go to Dell.com click Support search for Dimension 2400 search for drivers search for ethernet or network drivers download them onto flash drive take to faulty PC install them reboot and test. ^use this solution but replace it with your own brand of PC... at least it should get your internet going. unfortunately, not everything might be damaged.... one thing can make a chain reaction happen, so the best thing is to try to solve the problems 1 by 1. let me know if any of this helped. |
